Review:Letter to the editor,
This weekend I have experienced as I do whenever a team from Atikokan comes in to play a sport in Winnipeg and they give me a call, the true meaning of my roots. A ringette team from your hometown travelled for 6 hours and took on teams that were rich with lines of players. Atikokan had 2 subs and played with passion, endurance and ALWAYS played as a team. Even losing the gold medal game and placing silver not once did I see poor sportsmanship. When lining up to receive their medal, pulling off their helmets and exposing enormous smiles and rosey cheeks the true spirit of Atikokan is always exposed. Look at us we are proud, strong and never stop until the whistle blows. A coach from Lorette Mb. came over and asked where is Atikokan and how amazing these girls are when there were so few of them. The mothers spoke with pride when answering his questions. Enjoy your local teams and support them because they sure make alot of stacked teams step up and really play. How lucky you are to have easy access and low fees for organized sports. Atikokan is home to me and will always be. People around me know everything about Atikokan and at time envy the lifestyle that living in a small town has done for me. I'm just a Northwestern Ont.girl who was raised in the bush with a community so loving and safe that it took me years to lock my door. I'm proud of my roots and where I come from.
My name is Shelly Henry(Howard and Shirley's girl) and I COME FROM ATIKOKAN ONTARIO!
